It seems that every year sees the passage of new firearm laws and 2024 is no different. There are four primary changes that went into effect on January 1, 2024.
The first is the requirement of mandatory safety training prior to the purchase of any firearm.
The second is a mandatory ten business day waiting period for the purchase of any firearm.
The third is how background checks are conducted.
The fourth is a new $18 background check fee for all firearm transactions. This replaces the $25 fee for purchase of a semi-automatic rifle. Pawn redemptions are excluded.
